(Original name, huh?)
I’ve talked a little about my body struggles in the past, but these days I’m feeling really good about how I’m feeding and moving my body. For the first time in my life, I’m actually LISTENING to it. And I can tell what a difference that makes.
That doesn’t mean I’m eating perfectly, by the way. The Akirah Robinson diet has nothing to do with being perfect. Actually, the Akirah Robinson diet is all about me listening to my body, eating what it tells me what it wants, and stopping when I’m full.
(It also means I’m eating A LOT less sugar.)
My good friend Lindsey Smith (pictured above) is known as the Food Mood Girl, and she’s great at helping women heal their relationship with food and their bodies. Her work has helped me a ton, and is part of the reason I felt motivated to start following the Akirah Robinson diet. Last night I read a bit of Lindsey’s fifth book, Food Guilt No More, and am already inspired by her words of self-love and self-acceptance. That’s why I’m super excited to give away a pre-release copy of it to one of you!
Need a self-worth reminder? Here are a few quotes from the book that should definitely do the trick:
You can influence the amount of stress your body has to deal with by altering your attitude toward food. Stop thinking of food in terms of “good” or “bad” and start bringing positive energy toward food choices. If you are going to eat a cookie, appreciate and enjoy the cookie.
Once you discover the joy that comes along with food, and once you can sit comfortably in your own skin, then you can be freed from the poor food choices that have manipulated your body and your moods for years. From yo-yo dieting to food restrictions to cheat days . . . these can all be solved with one magical ingredient: self-love.
When it comes to smart food choices, experiment and listen to your own body. Don’t worry about what foods work for me or for someone else. Treat your body as a test lab.
Good stuff, huh? Well, if you’d like to win your own copy of Food Guilt No More simply leave a comment below telling me what food makes you feel good in your soul.** And if you want to learn more about Lindsey, check her out on Facebook and Twitter.
